Banana-Grape Protein Smoothie

June 22, 2014 by Cris Leave a Comment

A few days back, I posted on my personal Facebook page a picture with one of my favorite protein smoothies. Nothing interesting and new so far, we all post different kinds of stuff in there, right?! The surprise came right after, having to answer to so many people about both its color and ingredients.

Banana-Grape Protein Smoothie
One of the questions was related to its chocolate color. I didn’t use any form of chocolate bar or powder. My protein smoothie got this beautiful color from hemp powder. Hemp is a super food that can help maintain health and wellness, such as increasing energy, regulating cholesterol level, reducing stress and decreasing symptoms of atopic dermatitis and allergies to name a few.

Among all the plants, hemp seeds contain edible protein that can be used by the human organism, benefiting it in a complete measure. For more details about hemp seeds/powder, you can visit the Canah page (in English as well).

I personally like to use this amazing superfood for its various benefits.
Rich in protein, omega-fatty acids (Omega 3 and Omega 6) and fiber, hemp seeds have numerous benefits with numerous uses. Hemp is loaded with all amino acids (including also the 9 essential ones) and is a great choice for those following a vegetarian or vegan diet. The protein found in hemp seeds is also very digestible making it a perfect choice for sensitive diets. Apart from the shakes and smoothies, I also use hemp seeds in my personalized müsli and different kinds of salads.

As fruits, I used banana, grapes, pineapple and cranberries. A mega-dose of potassium in bananas protects the heart and promotes calcium absorption. If you drink this protein smoothie before a workout, it will help sustain your blood sugar and prevent muscle cramps. Going back to my protein smoothie, you need only 2 minutes to get it done.
