How to Stay Sane While Injured

January 22, 2016 by Cris 8 Comments

How to Stay Sane While Injured Hi, everyone! As I shouldn’t be forcing my right hand doing things that could aggravate the injury even more but still wanted you to know and understand my current situation, I’am going to keep today’s post very very short.

Okay, long story short: three nights ago I got hit by a car while riding my bike on the way back home. The bright side of the darkness story is that I got away only with a broken wrist.

What does this mean to me? Being injured in the middle of a big training block, I’m telling you it HURTS. It basically is a huge pain to have to take between 4 to 6 weeks off from running.

Anyway, I won’t let this injury messing up with my head, therefore I am going to challenge myself to grow as a stronger runner instead.

1. Although it sucks, I need to accept that I can’t change this situation
As one of my runner friends said to me the other day – “Marathon is still way ahead. A month break is not that bad. Plus, you have a very good base.”

2. Determine if I should be completely off the road
As you should imagine (I hope you already know me by now), I asked the doctor if I could still try to run these days. To my big surprise, he said “YES, but take it easy and listen to your body!” Thank you, Herr Doktor! Will do. Love you for this! :)))

3. I’ll try something new
This shouldn’t mean that my cardio fitness needs to suffer, right?! I’ll go for long walks and exercise at home in order to keep myself in shape.

Anyway, I’ll keep you updated on my journey and hopefully I’ll get your butt out the door too.

TO BE CONTINUED …

Stay healthy & be happy!
Xoxo Cris

OMG! I’m so sorry to hear that, but I’m glad to hear that it was only your wrist, which was injured. I can only imagine how bad it could have been. Must be really frustrating though, to be forced to take a break from your training schedule. I hope you recover soon:)
