Banana-Pomegranate Yoghurt Smoothie

A humble but delicious and healthy smoothie that highlights pomegranate, yoghurt and banana. I am definitely a pomegranate maniac this month. Hooray!

I guess everyone already knows how much I love yoghurt. Maybe it’s because I was fortunate to live in Greece for a while where any yogurt is HEAVEN on earth, or maybe I am aware of all its health benefits, but the true is that especially Greek yoghurt it’s the one item from my pantry I could never give up. NEVER!

So imagine how happy I was when the guys from Chobani asked me a few days back if I would still be interested in participating in their new #MadeWithChobani project. I said “still” as I currently live in Germany and their yoghurt is not available here yet….

Antioxidant Boost & Protein Smoothie

Do you workout on a regular basis? I hope you do or, at least, are seriously thinking of starting to do it. Either way, you probably already know how important is the protein refuel after a strenuous session! To thicken the texture, I added Greek yoghurt almost to a pudding like consistency for an extra protein boost.

Antioxidant Boost & Protein Smoothie
Proteins are essential nutrients that help our bodies repair cells and make new ones, regulate hormone and enzyme levels and make antibodies that help us fight back all sorts of infections. They are also needed to make up muscle tissue in order to keep our bodies active, strong and healthy.

I believe that – in general – a well-balanced diet should provide enough protein so that protein supplements should not be required – except under special circumstances. Protein can be found in dairy, eggs, meat, fish, all legumes (such as beans, chickpeas, lentils, etc.), some grains (quinoa is one of them), nuts and seeds, as well as in a protein smoothie….
